Privacy policy

Your information stays under your control.

This policy explains how PetBrief handles information in the current iPhone app. Effective September 13, 2026.

Summary Stored data Sharing Permissions Retention Contact

Summary

PetBrief is designed as a local-first app. It does not require an account and does not send your pet care information to a PetBrief server. The current version has no backend, advertising SDK, third-party analytics SDK, CloudKit sync, or automatic network upload.

You decide when data leaves the app. Information leaves PetBrief only when you deliberately use an iOS feature such as Share, Save to Files, or Print.

Information stored on your device

Depending on what you enter, PetBrief may store:

  • Pet profile information, including name, care details, behavior, veterinarian information, and an optional photo.
  • Feeding, activity, litter care, medication, emergency contact, and trip information.
  • Optional household and home-access instructions.
  • Guide history, locally generated PDF archives, app settings, and minimal on-device diagnostic counters.

Sensitive home-access fields are encrypted on the device using an encryption key stored in the iOS Keychain. These fields are off by default when preparing output.

Exporting and sharing

When you generate, share, save, print, or resend a guide that may include sensitive home information, PetBrief asks you to confirm what should be included. If you choose to export information, the destination you select—such as Files, Mail, Messages, a printer, or another app—handles that copy under its own terms and privacy practices.

PetBrief cannot delete or recall copies that you have already shared, printed, or saved outside the app.

Photos and device permissions

PetBrief uses Apple’s system photo picker when you choose a pet photo. You control which photo is provided. The current version does not take photos with the camera and does not request location, contacts, microphone, tracking, or notification access.

Share, Files, and Print are presented through standard iOS interfaces and occur only after your action.

Diagnostics

PetBrief keeps minimal local event counts and privacy-aware system logs to help diagnose app behavior. They remain on the device and are not transmitted to PetBrief. Sensitive care text is not intentionally written to diagnostic logs.

Retention and deletion

Your information remains on your device until you edit or delete it, remove the app, or use Delete all local data in Settings. Deleting local data removes PetBrief records, related local photos, export archives, app encryption keys, and local settings where applicable. It does not remove copies saved or shared elsewhere, and it cannot guarantee physical secure erasure from device storage or backups managed by the operating system.

Children’s privacy

PetBrief is a general pet care utility and is not directed to children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If PetBrief’s data practices change, this page will be updated and the effective date will be revised. Material changes may also be communicated through the app or its App Store listing.
